  • Eczematous, edematous papules, and plaques often in a geometric distribution coinciding with areas of contact to the allergen.

  • Often very pruritic.

Nonspecific Viral Exanthem
  • Constitutional symptoms may be present.

  • Resolves quickly within 1 to 2 weeks and is usually asymptomatic.

Drug Eruption
  • Pink-red blanching macules and papules that begin on the face and neck and spread caudally.

  • Pruritus is common.

  • History of inciting drug ingestion in the preceding 7 to 14 days.

Management-icon.jpg Management

  • ULE resolves spontaneously without sequelae in 3 to 6 weeks.

  • Sometimes complete resolution is delayed up until 8 weeks.

  • Treatment is symptomatic with topical corticosteroids and antipruritics as necessary.
