Explain purpose and side effects of medication to patient. Advise patient to read Patient Information before starting therapy.
Advise patient not to use >3 days. If used longer than directed, oxymetazoline may cause rebound congestion and physical dependence. Notify health care professional if nasal symptoms continue or worsen or if dependence suspected.
Inform patients with ↑ BP, other cardiovascular disease, diabetes, thyroid disease, glaucoma, or benign prostatic hyperplasia to consult health care professional before using oxymetazoline.
Advise patient to not share container to prevent spread of infection.
Advise patient to notify health care professional of all Rx or OTC medications, vitamins, or herbal products being taken and to consult health care professional before taking other medications.
Rep: Advise patient to notify health care professional if pregnancy is planned or suspected, or if breastfeeding.
