Explain purpose and side effects of medication. Advise patient to read Patient Information before starting therapy.
Instruct patient to use besifloxacin as directed, even if feeling better. Do not skip doses or stop therapy early; may lead to ↓ effectiveness and resistant infection. Avoid touching applicator to eye, finger, or other surface. Wash hands prior to instillation.
Advise patient to notify health care professional of all Rx or OTC medications, vitamins, or herbal products being taken and to consult health care professional before taking other medications.
Caution patient to avoid wearing contact lenses during therapy.
Advise patient to discontinue immediately and notify health care professional if signs/symptoms of rash or allergic reaction (hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of throat) occur.
OB: Advise women of reproductive potential to notify health care professional if pregnancy is planned or suspected, or if breastfeeding.
