Adult Dosing
Fungal infections and Cutaneous Candidiasis
- Apply 2% cream bid x 2-6 wks to affected and immediate surrounding areas
- Tinea corporis: 2 wks minimum
- Tinea pedis: 6 wks usually required
Tinea Versicolor
- Apply 2% cream Daily x 2 wks to affected and immediate surrounding areas
- Alt: Apply 2% shampoo Daily x 2 wks to the affected area & wide margin of surrounding area, lather, leave in place for 5 minutes, then rinse
Seborrheic Dermatitis
- Apply 2% cream/gel/foam bid x 2-4 wks to affected area(s)

- Application of ketoconazole cream may cause anaphylactic reactions and life threatening or less severe asthmatic episodes as it contains sodium sulfite anhydrous
- Discontinue therapy if a reaction suggesting sensitivity or chemical irritation occurs
- Avoid fire, flame, or smoking during and immediately following application of gel or foam as it contains alcohol and propane/butane, which are flammable
- Discontinue application of gel and contact health care provider if irritation occurs or if the disease worsens
- Contact sensitization, including photoallergenicity may occur with ketoconazole foam application
Cautions: Use with caution in
- Pediatric population (< 12 yrs safety not established)
- Hypersensitivity to sulphites

Breastfeeding: Use of topical ketoconazole by the mother poses little or no risk to the breastfed infant. However, topical use on the breast or nipples should be avoided (due to possible oral ingestion by the infant) and other safer alternatives should be considered.
