Pregnancy/Breast Feeding

Pregnancy Category:C

Breastfeeding: No data available on the use of this drug during lactation. As it is a quaternary ammonium compound, it is unlikely to be absorbed and reach the bloodstream of the infant. Prolonged use may reduce milk production and produce signs of decreased lactation (e.g., insatiety, poor weight gain), but a single dose is unlikely to interfere with breastfeeding. This information is based upon LactMed database (available at http://toxnet.nlm.nih.gov/cgi-bin/sis/htmlgen?LACT last accessed 28 July 2011). Manufacturer advises caution while using in nursing women.
