Sodium nitrite is available as a 30-mg/mL (3%) solution in 10-mL single-dose vials containing 300 mg of sodium nitrite.⁴⁰¹⁰ Each mL of solution contains sodium nitrite 30 mg in water for injection.⁴⁰¹⁰

Sodium nitrite injection is administered by slow intravenous injection at a rate of 2.5 to 5 mL/min.³⁰⁹³; ⁴⁰¹⁰

Intact vials should be stored at controlled room temperature and protected from direct light and freezing.³⁰⁹³; ⁴⁰¹⁰ The injection solution is a clear solution.³⁰⁹³; ⁴⁰¹⁰ Unused portions should be discarded.³⁰⁹³; ⁴⁰¹⁰

Blood Products

The manufacturer states that simultaneous administration with blood products (e.g., whole blood, packed red cells, platelet concentrate and/or fresh frozen plasma) through the same intravenous line is not recommended.⁴⁰¹⁰
