- Severe allergic reactions are associated with usage of this drug. Patients allergic to aspirin are more susceptible. Asthma (wheezing), blisters, facial swelling, hives, rash, shock and skin reddening are the associated symptoms. On development of allergic reactions stop usage of this drug and seek medical immediately
- Geriatrics 60 yrs, those with history of stomach ulcers or bleeding problems, patients on blood thinning (anticoagulant) or steroid drug, those making concomitant use of other drugs containing an NSAID, having 3 or more alcoholic drinks within 24 hrs, making use of drug for more than suggested duration are prone to stomach bleeding
- Avoid usage of this drug in those with allergic reaction to any other pain reliever/fever reducer and in conditions right before or after surgery
- Severe or persistent serious sore throat or sore throat accompanied by high fever, headache, nausea, and vomiting may occur. Advise patients to immediately consult their clinician on development of such events
- Avoid usage of suspension in children for >2 days and in children <3 yrs of age unless directed by doctor
- Long term continuous use of this drug is associated with increasing the risk of heart attack or stroke
- Advise patients to withheld this drug and consult their clinician if they faint, vomit blood, or have bloody or black stools, pain worsens or last for >10 days, fever worsens or last for >3 days, stomache pain worsens or lasts, presence of redness or swelling in the painful area and on development of any other new symptoms
- Avoid usage of ibuprofen during the last 3 months of pregnancy unless definitely directed to do so by a clinician as it may cause problems in the unborn child or may induce complications during delivery
- Advise patients to inform their clinician if the child has problems or serious complications from taking pain relievers or fever reducers, having stomach problems, ulcers, bleeding problems, not drinking fluids, vomiting or diarrhea, high blood pressure, heart or kidney disease and using diuretic

Pregnancy Category:C (Contraindicated in pregnancy 3rd trimester)
Breastfeeding: Extremely low levels of ibuprofen is excreted in breastmilk, due to its shorter half-life and use in infants in doses much higher than those excreted in breastmilk, prefer ibuprofen as an analgesic or anti inflammatory agent in nursing mothers.
