Adult Dosing
Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis
- Acular: Instill 1 gtt in affected eye(s) qid
Prevention and relief of ocular inflammation following cataract extraction
- Acular: Instill 1 gtt qid in eye(s) for 2 weeks beginning 24 hours after surgery
- Acuvail: Instill 1 gtt qid in eye(s) for 15 days beginning 1 day before surgery
Corneal refractive surgery
- Acular LS: Instill 1 gtt in eye(s) qid. Max: 4 days postop
Pediatric Dosing
Seasonal allergic conjunctivitis
- > 3 yrs: Acular: Instill 1 gtt in affected eye qid

- Cross-sensitivity to acetylsalicylic acid, phenylacetic acid derivatives, and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory agents is possible. Use with caution in patients with hx of sensitivities to these drugs
- Ocularly applied nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may cause increased bleeding of ocular tissues (including hyphemas) in conjunction with ocular surgery
- All topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) may slow or delay healing
- Continued use of topical NSAIDs may result in epithelial breakdown, corneal thinning, corneal erosion, corneal ulceration or corneal perforation
Cautions: Use cautiously in
- Diabetes mellitus
- Rheumatoid arthritis
- Bleeding risk
- Corneal denervation
- Corneal epithelial defects
- Ocular surgery, multiple
- Dry eye syndrome
- Contact lens use
- Wound healing
Supplemental Patient Information
- Slow or delayed healing may occur
- Acuval: Administration of concomitant topical ophthalmic medicines should be at least 5 minutes apart
