  1. Equipment. To ensure that the anesthetizing location is properly and completely prepared, it is useful to refer to a checklist.
  2. Full Stomach and Rapid Sequence Induction (Table 42-9: Full Stomach and Rapid Sequence Induction). To protect the airways of children who are at risk for regurgitation and aspiration during induction of anesthesia, an RSI of anesthesia is widely practiced. Currently, there is no evidence to support or refute the use of cricoid pressure during RSI.
