Information

  1. Midazolam is the most widely used anxiolytic in children (PO, sublingual, nasal, IV, IM, and rectal routes) that is water soluble, with a rapid onset of action when administered orally and a brief elimination half-life.
  2. Dexmedetomidine is an α 2-agonist sedative whose relative affinity for α 2:α 1 receptors is eightfold greater than clonidine. The oral dose, which requires 30 to 60 minutes to provide sedation, is 2.6 to 4 µg/kg.
