The purpose of this chapter is to review questions related to abdominal surgery. This chapter will review surgeries of the gastrointestinal tract, stomach, and small bowel; postoperative nursing considerations; and drainage devices. Specific diseases such as peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease, Crohn’s disease, and diverticular disease will also be presented. Anesthetic techniques, patient outcomes, discharge instructions, and other important aspects of abdominal surgery will be explored.
